There is a certain freedom to hit the open road. Today many people are choosing to explore by either renting or purchasing a recreational vehicle (RV). There is a recreational vehicle to suit every taste and size of the group that will be using it to reach those hotspots for tourism and enjoy the wonders of some of the exceptional caping grounds and facilities that can be found and the highways and byways in the United States. The major difference is between those RV’s that are towed and those where the driver and his / her party drive the vehicle with the living space on the chassis. But even within those classifications, there is a massive choice of the type of RV’s.

When it comes to sheer size there are very few vehicles on the roads that can be as intimidating as a Class A RV. these are the true giants of the RV world. They can be anything from 26 feet or up to a whopping 45 feet in length. The largest models can weigh in at 30,000 pounds. these RV’s offer all the comforts of home. However, they come in a variety of forms. Some are pretty utilitarian – while others offer fittings such as a washer-dryer and even king size beds. But when you get to that level of luxury costs tend to skyrocket. However, you get a lot of functionality. A large RV can even be used to tow a motor vehicle. Some even have built-in bays where a car can be stored onboard. But there are some downsides to owning one of these behemoths. They are somewhat limited to where they can go and the fuel consumption can be astronomical.

For many people, a more logical choice is Class C RV’s. These can also be large with sizes up to the 30-foot mark. They are slightly lighter with the top-end models weighing around 13,000 pounds. They often feature a dedicated bathroom and are considerably cheaper than the Class A models. They do have sufficient space for larger parties. However, they will not usually be able to tow another motor vehicle. On the plus side, they are cheaper to run and the fuel consumption is much more frugal than their giant competitors in the Class A category.

The one comes to the Class BB RV’s. These could be more loosely defined as ‘Campervans‘. They can measure anywhere from around 17 feet to upwards of 22. but they are tremendously popular with manufacturers such as Winnebago fighting it out with other competitors Like Mercedes, Ram, and Ford) for market share. Many of the larger models can sleep six people in some comfort. The more expensive options are also supplied with a host of modern conveniences such as bathrooms and dining areas. Of course, they are nowhere near as large as the Class A Rv’s – but many people don’t see that as a downside. For them, the running costs are the selling point. For many of these nomadic wanderers the fact that they will be spending much of their time in campgrounds eating and relaxing under the stars or exploring tourist destinations. In effect, they would only be using the campervan for sleeping, some meal preparation, and ablution.

Some consumers also find that Class B RV’s allow them greater freedom of movement – there are very few places (visit website) that the smaller models cannot access. Of course, fuel consumption is also an attractive bonus. Some models are 4 wheel drive capable, enhancing that mobility and ease of access to dirt and less well-maintained stretches of tarmac.

The RV lifestyle is appealing to greater and greater numbers of people. Owning an RV is also a great way to simply meet another folk on the road or at a campground. Given the huge variety of RV’s, it is no wonder that more and more people are buying into the lifestyle.
